Left 4 Dead1 VS Left 4 Dead 2

Since the announcement of L4D2 being released and priced as a full game there has been a bit of commotion surrounding the game.

People calling themselves ''boycotters'' (also known as retards), tried to convince valve to make it an update for the existing L4D, or a DLC. But they failed and Valve released it on the 17th of November, exactly 1 year after the first one.

In this article I'll be comparing them to determine which one is better.

Weapons

Okay 2 takes this, it has a way bigger weapon arsenal compared to 1.

L4D1 features

  • pistol
  • Submachine gun
  • Pump action shotgun
  • Assault rifle
  • Automatic shotgun
  • Hunting rifle
  • Molotov cocktail (sets fire to stuff)
  • Pipe bomb (attracts common infected and then explodes)

L4D2 Features all those weapons and adds:

  • Magnum, more powerful pistol with smaller clip
  • Chrome shotgun (same as other but faster and less spread)
  • Silenced SMG (faster but less accurate)
  • Automatic combat shotgun (less spread)
  • Sniper rifle (more accurate during movement and larger magazine)
  • Combat rifle (Assault rifle with larger clip and 3 round burst)
  • AK-47 (less firing speed but more powerful
  • Grenade launcher, shooting an explosive round at your enemies (perfect with Bile bomb)
  • Bile bomb, Boomer puke, throw to lure common infecte

Also, melee weapons

  • Axe
  • Baseball bat
  • Chainsaw
  • Cricket bat
  • Crowbar
  • Electric Guitar
  • Frying pan
  • Katana
  • Machete
  • Nightstick

And weapon upgrades

  • Laser sights
  • Incendiary rounds, lights target on fire, obviously
  • Explosive rounds, explode on impact

Community

Again L4D2 kicks L4D1's ass on this one, especially with everyone on L4D1 whining about L4D2 being overpriced and not being DLC.

L4D2 has more relaxed and friendly people who don't replace letters with numbers or leave when you accidently die.

Also when playing online you'll probably end up playing with people who played L4D1, therefore you are not forced to play with people who are unfamiliar with the game mechanics and strategies.

So in L4D2 you can actually rely on your teammates to protect you while healing or reloading.

Gameplay

There isn't much to say about the gameplay, it's practically the same, although with the new weapons and health booster there has gotten a bit more strategy involved. Who's carrying the defibrillator? Who has the bile bombs? Who takes the grenade launcher? Etc. etc.

The AI director is also a lot better, and works like it was supposed to in the first game.

Also the campaigns now take an average of 50 minutes to complete on easy, which is considerably longer than in L4D2.

Price

L4D1 was cheaper on release in comparison to L4D2, 20$ cheaper. That's another reason why people were whining about L4D2, the higher price for a game that could be a DLC for the original L4D but became a full game.

Conclusion

L4D1 Felt like a blueprint for L4D2, L4D2 feels more complete and a bit more challenging with the longer campaigns and all.

The community in L4D1 is a bit annoying but makes up for it by being cheaper. The best thing to do is to get them both, practise in L4D1 and then get serious in L4D2.

Alternatively, practise in the single player in L4D2 and then get online. In the end L4D2 is better, not only because the new maps, epic achievements or weapons, it's because when you pre ordered it(which I did) you got Bill's spiffy hat in Team Fortress 2.

BUT I liked the characters from L4D1 better, they were more likeable and no one was complaining when they got stuck playing a character they didn't want(Rochelle in L4D2).

Here's the bottom line

They're both good, but the second one is better.

The Orange Box - Game Review When you order the orange box that's what your going to get, an orange box. But what's even more important is what's inside the box. Because, inside, there are some of the best games ever made: Half life 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2.

Mount And Blade - Game Review
Mount And Blade - Game Review Mount and blade is one of those games that don't tell you anything when you start. After a quick character creation section you are thrown into this huge map and the rest is up to you. Most free-roam RPG games are mostly based around combat, M&B however does not, you can also be a merchant or politician.

The Witcher - Game Review
The Witcher - Game Review The Witcher is based on "The Last Wish" a book by Anderzej Zapkowski. When you start the witcher you get some quick tutorials thrown at you, how to swing your sword, perform alchemy and using magic. This may sound simple but it's more complicated than Microsoft Access, there is your glossary screen, quests, map, alchemy ingredients, when in battle you have to switch between strong fast and group style and when you are in combat you have to chose between a steel or silver sword.

Assassin's Creed - Game Review Assassin's creed is set during the 3rd crusade in 12th century Israel and you play a bloke named Altaïr Ibn la-Ahad, seriously. Altaïr is a member of a secret society of assassins the Hashashin, who want to prevent the Crusaders from finding the Holy Land.

Grand Theft Auto 4 - Game Review
Grand Theft Auto 4 - Game Review Another Grand theft auto game, another mindless rampage of blood, violence and whores. Actually I shouldn't describe it that way, there is actual story in the GTA games. This one is about a former Russian Soldier Niko Bellic and his cousin Roman Bellic, coming to Liberty City (New York) to find another former soldier who sold out his squadron.
